Privacy Policy
Last updated September 16, 2026
This describes what Life Filings (“we”) collects when you use lifefilings.com and place an order, and what we do with it.
1. What we collect
When you place an order, we collect:
- Contact & shipping details you enter at checkout: name, email, shipping address, and any special instructions.
- Personalization content you enter for your document: names, dates, places, and the joke-section lines you pick or write. This is used only to render your document.
- Payment information is collected and processed directly by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — only Stripe does.
We don't use any third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the Site. Your browser stores your in-progress order draft locally (via sessionStorage) so your personalization survives navigating between pages — that data stays on your device and clears when your browser session ends.
2. How we use it
- To render, produce, and ship your personalized order.
- To email you an order confirmation and, if needed, updates about your order.
- To send your shipping address and personalization content to our production partner so they can print, frame, and ship your order.
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse of the Site.
We don't sell your personal information.
3. Who we share it with
Only the services needed to fulfill your order and run the Site:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — sends your order confirmation and our order emails.
- Lumaprints — our print/framing/shipping partner; receives your shipping address and personalization content to produce and ship your order.
- Railway — hosts the Site and its database.
Each of these processes your data under its own privacy policy and only for the purpose above. We don't share your data with anyone else, and never for their own marketing.
4. How long we keep it
We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfill your order, handle any follow-up questions or issues, and meet our accounting and tax obligations. You can ask us to delete personal information we no longer need to keep for those reasons — see Section 6.
5. Security
Card details never touch our servers — Stripe handles payment end-to-end. Order and personalization data is stored in our database behind the Site's admin login, which is restricted to us.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting lifefilings@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify it's really you before making changes to an order's data.
7. Children
The Site is for adults placing orders — for example, a parent buying a birth announcement print. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A child's name or birth details entered by a parent as part of an order's personalization are handled the same as any other personalization content, under Section 1.
8. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you additional rights over the personal information described in Section 1:
- Right to know / access — what personal information we've collected about you, the categories of sources, and the purposes for collecting it.
- Right to delete — your personal information, subject to exceptions (for example, records we need to keep to complete an order in progress or to meet accounting/tax obligations).
- Right to correct — inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and haven't in the preceding 12 months, so there's nothing to opt out of today. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and provide an opt-out method here.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we don't collect sensitive personal information (as CCPA defines it — things like government IDs, precise geolocation, or health data) beyond what's incidentally part of an order's shipping address.
- Right to non-discrimination — we won't deny you goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.
Categories of personal information collected (in the 12 months before this policy's last-updated date, per Section 1 above): identifiers (name, email, shipping address) and commercial information (your order and personalization content). We collect these directly from you and use them only for the purposes in Section 2.
To exercise any of these rights, email lifefilings@gmail.com from the address on the order (or explain your relationship to it if you're acting for someone else — an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with your written permission). We'll verify your identity against our order records before acting on a request, and respond within the timeframe California law requires. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our response; we'll explain how.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision.
